Director, Pulmonary DivisionDr. Somaraju is the Director of the Pulmonary Division for Next Breath. She has 7 years of relevant experience in the pulmonary field. She understands what’s expected of a company working in a client-based industry. In addition, Shailaja is responsible for enforcing GLPs and quality assurance/quality control at Next Breath.
Education and Employment
Granted Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Maryland (1999). Project Manager at the University Pharmaceuticals of Maryland from 1999 to April 2002.
Technical Competencies and Management Skills
- Core capabilities in formulation and device evaluation for pulmonary and nasal platforms.
- Competent in designing and implementing in-vitro tests and stability studies for inhalation products.
- Technical and management skills include work on solid and liquid dosage forms - their research, development and clinical manufacture.
- Well versed with GMPs and GLPs. Instructed and supervised GMP personnel during clinical manufacturing.
- Successfully formulated drug substances that pose unique formulation challenges into viable dosage forms in a short period of time.
- Able to organize and lead a team successfully from project inception to completion.
- Maintained exceptional client relations in the role of a Project Manager at UPM.
